How to prepare

  • Put the butter in the bowl of the food processor, then add a spoonful of salt to it, turn on the device and wait until the mixture turns like breadcrumbs, add lemon juice to it and leave it aside.
  • Add one tablespoon of lemon juice to each egg yolk and two tablespoons of water, stir the ingredients together, and add water to the mixture if it remains dry.
  • Divide the dough into two parts, then make discs of equal size, wrap them in food wrapping paper, and put them in the refrigerator for about an hour.
  • Peel the apple, remove the seeds, cut it into a group of slices, put it in a saucepan, add the preserved lemon juice, knead the remaining dates and remove the seeds.
  • Put the sugar and cinnamon on a medium heat for about 6 – 8 minutes until it softens, then set it aside to cool.
  • Heat the oven at a temperature of 200 degrees Celsius, then add the mixture to a floured tray, and place one of the two pie dough disks on it.
  • Place the second disk on top of the first disk and moisten its edges with water.
  • Use a food brush to paint the surface components of the pie, then use a knife to create a set of slits on its surface so that steam can escape from them easily.
  • Bake the pie for about 35-40 minutes until it turns golden, take it out of the oven after it’s done, and decorate its surface with cream.
